The Chef in the Family
There are hundreds of chefs on TV that make those superb dishes that look so easy to make. They make all this food and tell you that you can make and Eat Nourishing food just like this. It seems so easy to do. So, you go to the store to buy the fish and the chicken, all the vegetables and the spices, but there always seems to be an ingredient you just can’t find. You think Oh well, I can make do. You slave away all day trying to make this perfect dish that you saw on TV. You’re just about finished and you pull it out of the oven to find it looks like mush.
That was my day today. I saw this recipe on Real Food Recipes and thought I would try it out. It looked simple enough to manage so I went to the store and luckily I found all the ingredients. My problem was I had a screaming baby and a five year old running around acting crazy. I tried the best I could to get everything mixed together right. I put it in the oven for just the right time, but when I pulled it out, it was completely black. I had burnt the entire souffl. I forgot that I hadn’t changed my clocks from the time change so when I put it in the oven it was 4:30 p.m. By my cell phone and when I took it out it was exactly one hour later 5:30 p.m. By the clock on my wall. I had left the darn thing in there for two hours.
It’s a good thing we have a chef in the family. My aunt went to school to be a chef so I called her up in tears telling her how I had burnt the souffl. She came over and used the left over ingredients and few extra items to create an excellent casserole dinner. Needless to say, my family was happy and we had a nice home cooked meal after all. I think next time I’ll just leave those hard recipes to the chefs on TV and if I’m really craving something, I’ll just call my aunt.
