Not knowing that much about insects but seeing what I thought were carpenter ants scurrying around outside a few years ago, I then asked my husband how to get rid of carpenter ants. He wasn’t too concerned about them, he said. This lack of concern about them (and termites) seems to stem from the fact we have a concrete block foundation. I guess I was nervous about insects destroying things here because I do remember that when we lived in a more southern area there were occasions we would pass by homes that had this “tent” over certain dwellings.
No doubt these home owners had problems with insect infestations and had to take drastic measures to save their homes. Most of the houses were of wood construction in that area, so I can see why they’d be concerned about “critters” munching out on them. Having a home with a lot of concrete blocks not only in our foundation but also in our exterior walls is what I think of now as a blessing. We didn’t know it when we purchased this home that having this type of construction would save us big bucks in the long-run regarding infestations of “visitors.”
To get rid of these ants, there are a few things that one can do in order to get rid of them completely. The first thing that you’ll want to do is make sure that you look into those traps that you can purchase at your local home improvement stores. These traps can lay on the ground in corners and the food and smells will attract the ants to the trap. Once they are in the trap, they will be instantly killed.
While traps are going to be the best way to go as well as be the best way to get rid of them, one is going to find that a professional is going to be the best route to go after this. If you have a problem, the pest control specialist could be a fantastic investment since they will have many materials that one can use in order to get rid of the problem for good.
